Digital Birds & Bees: Sex, Teenagers, and Tech

with Forensic Psychologist Dr. Alex Rodrigues

This training will take place on July 14, 2023 from 1pm CST to 4pm CST.  We will be located at UNT in the EAD room 524; remote attendance is available. 

We are very delighted to have Dr. Rodrigues with us!  He is an AMAZING presenter.  To give some context with this upcoming presentation here is Dr. Rodrigues abstract: 

"As a result of greater access to the Internet and its ever-expanding reach, individuals are spending more time online.  Over the past two decades, advancements in technology have delivered the possibility of greater social connectivity.  These advancements have manifested in greater Internet accessibility, affordability, and anonymity.  However, individuals are also finding themselves at greater risk online and this risk includes sexual abuse and victimization.  There has been a recent increase in technology facilitated sexual abuse (TFSA), including sexploitation; catfishing; digital dating abuse; revenge porn; and child sexual exploitation, or more commonly referred to as child pornography.  Presentation attendees will learn about these “new” offense types and some of the developing research regarding these behaviors and perpetrators.  Also, attendees will be provided with references and resources they can access to learn more about TFAs and how to counter them."
